VCE Chemistry
Units 1 to 4 from the VCAA Chemistry study design. Edapt adapts to the way you learn, works through calculations step by step and marks your written responses against the criteria VCAA assessors apply.
What Edapt covers in VCE Chemistry
How can the diversity of materials be explained?
Atomic structure, bonding models and periodic trends, with the vocabulary and depth VCAA SAC assessors look for in extended responses.
How do chemical reactions yield energy?
Thermochemistry, enthalpy and Hess's law, with quantitative reasoning shown at every step.
Equilibrium, acids and redox
Le Chatelier's principle, pH calculations, electrochemical cells and electrolysis, covering the breadth of Units 3 and 4.
Structure and synthesis of organic compounds
Nomenclature, reaction pathways and the analytical techniques that appear in VCAA data-analysis questions.
Why VCE Chemistry students use Edapt
VCE Chemistry written responses are marked by criteria, and students often lose marks not because their chemistry is wrong but because they have not linked it clearly to the context of the question.
Edapt marks your response criterion by criterion, shows you where the chemistry is sound but the application is missing, and gives you the specific addition that earns the mark.
Marked like an assessor, not a chatbot
Illustrative example. Generic AI gives everyone the same note. Edapt marks against VCAA (the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) criteria.
Solid essay. Consider adding more analysis and strengthening your conclusion.
Increasing the concentration of reactants shifts the equilibrium to the right by Le Chatelier's principle, producing more products.
- Correctly applies Le Chatelier's principle to the direction of shift
- 1 of 1
- Uses the equilibrium expression to quantify the effect
- 0 of 2
- Links the shift explicitly to the named substance in the question
- 0 of 1
- The direction of shift is correct and earns that mark.
- For the quantification criterion, write out the equilibrium expression K, note that adding reactant increases the denominator making Q less than K, and state that the forward reaction is favoured until Q equals K again.
- For the context criterion, replace reactants with the specific substance named in the question and state the observable change, for example an increase in the concentration of the named product.
VCE Chemistry AI tutor: common questions
Does Edapt align to the current VCAA Chemistry study design?
Yes. All four units follow the current VCAA study design, including the practical and inquiry-based content that feeds into SAC assessments.
Can it help with both calculations and written responses?
Yes. Calculations are shown with full working and units. Written responses are marked by criterion with specific guidance on what to add or change.
Is it useful when I have a SAC coming up?
Absolutely. Practise the response styles your SAC uses, get marked feedback and see the exact criteria before the assessment.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Edapt is free for everyone, no card needed.
